How to Compare ISPs in Your Area

What do you need to keep in mind when you compare ISPs in your area?  It’s very simple, actually.  After determining availability, compare costs, speed, and convenience of added services.  This way you can determine what is right for you. You’ll want to check your local availability first. Find out if major nationally known ISPs such as Verizon and AT&T are available.  Once you’ve determined availability, then it is easy to compare local service providers with nationally known companies.

When comparing ISPs, check for speed as well as price.  Most people prefer higher speeds because it makes it so much easier to share files, photos, watch streaming videos and download music.  You need to see what is an adequate speed for the money you want to spend.  Also consider if there are hidden charges.  Is there an activation fee?  Do you need to buy a modem?  And finally, will the rebate offset any costs you might incur, or make a contract for a certain period of time worth it?
