The Fierce Telecom report also details other plans which were revealed by R. Stewart Ewing, Jr., CenturyLink CEO, such as the planned maintenance of its video service strategy which will leverage both IPTV and satellite. The company’s fiber network is currently at the 210,000 mile mark, thanks to its recent acquisitions of Qwest, and it uses this network to centralize its provision of the wide range of products it offers, including IPTV, to customers. And while the actual number of IPTV customers is relatively small, Ewing says the service is working well in areas where it is available. IPTV from Qwest is currently available to over 1 million households.
